Solar panel cleaning and inspection in Weymouth

We clean, inspect and make minor repairs to existing solar arrays across Weymouth on a monthly plan, rather than as one-off jobs. About fifty minutes west of us. We schedule Weymouth and Dorchester together to keep the travelling sensible.

We cover Wyke Regis, Preston, Radipole, Chickerell, Southill and out towards Portland, and the surrounding DT3 and DT4 postcodes.

Booking October visits now. We work one postcode area at a time rather than criss-crossing the county, so slots in each area are limited by how many homes one person can properly look after. A £25 refundable deposit holds a place, and it comes off your first month.

The most exposed coast we cover

What actually lands on a roof in Weymouth, and why it matters.

Directly onto the Channel, facing south

Weymouth takes weather off open sea with nothing between it and France. The prevailing south-westerly arrives carrying salt, and south-facing roofs — which is to say, the roofs with solar on them — catch it head on.

Portland stone dust

Quarrying on Portland puts fine limestone dust into the air, and it drifts. It is alkaline, pale, and it sits on glass rather than running off. Mixed with salt film it is noticeably harder to shift than ordinary road dust.

The gulls are not a joke here

Weymouth has one of the more determined urban gull populations on the south coast. Seafront and harbour-side roofs get fouled repeatedly through the breeding season, and the same roofs get it year after year.

Wind-driven debris

Exposed sites collect grit along the lower panel edges where the frame traps it. Left there it holds water, and in winter that is where moss starts.

Our honest take for Weymouth: Weymouth is the one place on our list where we would gently push back on an annual-only clean. The salt and gull load is simply higher here.

What a visit covers

We are a maintenance and cleaning business, not an MCS-certified installer. If something needs an installer or an electrician, we will tell you plainly rather than have a go.

Not sure how often you need it?

The honest answer depends on where your roof is and what is above it, which is exactly what the sections above are about. We have written up the reasoning in full: how often solar panels should be cleaned in the UK.
