Solar panel cleaning and inspection in Christchurch

We clean, inspect and make minor repairs to existing solar arrays across Christchurch on a monthly plan, rather than as one-off jobs. Around thirty minutes east of us, straight along the coast.

We cover Mudeford, Highcliffe, Burton, Somerford, Purewell and Friars Cliff, and the surrounding BH23 postcodes.

Booking October visits now. We work one postcode area at a time rather than criss-crossing the county, so slots in each area are limited by how many homes one person can properly look after. A £25 refundable deposit holds a place, and it comes off your first month.

Two rivers, a harbour, and a lot of waterfowl

What actually lands on a roof in Christchurch, and why it matters.

Where the Stour and the Avon meet

Christchurch sits at the confluence of two rivers running into a shallow harbour. That is excellent for birds and less excellent for solar panels. Swans, geese and gulls all use the harbour and the water meadows, and roofs on the flight lines between them collect the evidence.

Bird droppings are the worst case, not the average case

A dropping is opaque. It does not dim a panel, it blocks a cell outright, and because cells are wired in series a single blocked cell drags down everything in its string until a bypass diode intervenes. That is why a few small deposits can cost far more output than an even layer of dust across the whole array.

Salt from Christchurch Bay

Highcliffe, Friars Cliff and Mudeford take the same salt exposure as the rest of the coast, with the cliff-top properties getting the most of it.

A lot of early installs, now well into middle age

Christchurch has plenty of arrays fitted during the feed-in tariff years. Systems from that era are now ten to fifteen years old, which is exactly when mounting hardware, cable clips and isolators start to be worth actually inspecting rather than assuming.

Our honest take for Christchurch: If your system went in under the feed-in tariff, the inspection half of a visit is arguably worth more to you than the clean.

What a visit covers

We are a maintenance and cleaning business, not an MCS-certified installer. If something needs an installer or an electrician, we will tell you plainly rather than have a go.

Not sure how often you need it?

The honest answer depends on where your roof is and what is above it, which is exactly what the sections above are about. We have written up the reasoning in full: how often solar panels should be cleaned in the UK.
